Creative Arts
Certificate IV in Arts Administration CUV40503
| Cost: $2,650 | Class Size: 8 - 10 |
Aim
This course provides a broad range of skills required for the management and administration of arts organisations including community arts organisations, arts cooperatives and microbusinesses, and larger institutions. The skills are intended to be useful to participants from any aspect of the arts visual, literary, theatre, music, new media and so on. They are designed to help arts practitioners support their creative work efficiently, while also meeting the increasingly stringent administrative, financial and governance requirements required by regulators and funding bodies.
The course is particularly suited to arts practitioners who are presently (or about to become) engaged in the administration of an arts organisation - community-based, pro-am, fully professional, or a freelance arts microbusiness and feel a need to systematise and extend their current knowledge in order to fully support and maximise the potential of the creative practice of their organisation.
The course is full-on but not full-time. It requires commitment to attend ten workshop classes over a period of six months, plus the completion of a number of practical assignments based in participants’ own work practice, but it is entirely possible to combine this course with full time work so long as participants have the necessary desire and compulsion.
After successful completion of this program an individual should have the skills to take prime responsibility for the management of a small arts organisation or to work as part of a team in a larger organisation.
